PostHeaderIcon Time-on-distance Correction

a scoring method that adjusts each competitor’s finish time based on their handicap rating and the total race distance. The handicap used is the number of seconds per nautical mile of rhumb line racecourse distance above or below the benchmark—usually the first boat to finish. Boats with a low handicap number owe time to any competitor with a higher handicap. Boats with a high handicap are owed time by any competitor with a lower handicap. See also: IRC, ORR, and PHRF.
